The Dutch office of Bayer CropScience needed a better way to support document sharing over the intranet. Document storage and mailing was unstructured and inefficient, with large email attachments clogging remote connections, Web folders going unaccessed, and structured authorization to Web folders impossible to maintain. To solve the problem , Getronics built a custom solution based on Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001. The solution is so successful that users voluntarily stored 3,000 documents on it in within a few weeks and some departments moved all their document-based work to the shared space.
