By upgrading to Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 and
Windows® SharePoint™ Services, Honeywell Automation and
Control Solutions expects to improve team collaboration,
document sharing, and internal data discovery and reuse
throughout the company. Using out-of-the box
functionality ACS will be able set up more than 100 team
workspaces per week by empowering local users with a
standards-based system that is the foundation for
enterprisewide collaboration. ACS-wide team site
standards will help to consolidate the company's
intranet sites by 75 percent, reduce the time necessary
for setting up new site and lower site management and
administration costs. Based on preliminary results,
collaboration productivity of ACS information workers
has improved approximately 25 percent

Bayer CropScience
The Dutch office of Bayer CropScience needed a
better way to support document sharing over the
intranet. Document storage and mailing was
unstructured and inefficient, with large email
attachments clogging remote connections, Web folders
going unaccessed, and structured authorization to
Web folders impossible to maintain. To solve the
problem , Getronics built a custom solution based on
Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001. The
solution is so successful that users voluntarily
stored 3,000 documents on it in within a few weeks
and some departments moved all their document-based
work to the shared space. Users receive automatic
notification of documents they can access and field
staff appreciates the option to download attachments
when and where they prefer.

When Seattle Public Schools needed to provide senior
management with self-service access to data
contained in its SAP R/3 financial system, the
school district turned to Microsoft®
SharePointPortal Server. In less than two weeks, the
district implemented a solution that uses SharePoint
Portal Server and a SharePoint plug-in from ERP-Link
to extract reports from SAP and present them to
users through an intuitive Web-based interface.
Taking this approach has enabled Seattle Public
Schools to avoid purchasing SAP desktop licenses for
users who only need to view data and to reduce
